BillMatrix CEO Presents Assessment
of Payment Cards
at Philadelphia Federal Reserve
Offers Biller’s Perspective
on New & Growing Electronic Payment Products
DALLAS, Texas – July 13, 2005 – Scott Walker,
Chairman and CEO of BillMatrix Corporation, a provider of
outsourced telephone and Internet-based payment services,
will be participating in a panel discussion tomorrow on “Innovation
and Emerging Market Structures: A Changing Landscape for Financial
Service Providers” at a conference sponsored by the
Payment Cards Center of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
The conference, “Payment Cards and the Unbanked: Prospects
and Challenges”, will bring together industry experts,
researchers and policy makers in a search for insights into
the ways in which financial services, including electronic
bill payment, may be provided in efficient and effective ways.
Walker will rely on BillMatrix’ decade of experience
in providing electronic payment services to consumers on behalf
of billers to review the risks and costs of the payment mechanisms
currently in use by the un/underbanked demographic. He will
then underscore the benefits of converting to self-service
electronic bill payment, readily available via a telephone
user interface, which for this population has been facilitated
by the growth in payroll cards, general purpose prepaid cards
and other stored value products.
About the Payment Cards Center
The Payment Cards Center was established to serve as a source
of knowledge and expertise on this important segment of the
financial system, which includes credit cards, debit cards,
smart cards, stored-value cards, and similar payment vehicles.
Consumers' and businesses' evolving use of various types of
payment cards to effect transactions in the economy has potential
implications for the structure of the financial system, for
the way that monetary policy affects the economy, and for
the efficiency of the payments system.
